Biography
- Vladimir Kim joined Kazakhstan mineral firm Kazakhmys in 1995 after earning degrees in civil engineering, economics and business administration.
- He was named chairman in 2005, before Kazakhmys became the first Kazakh company to list on the London Stock Exchange.
- In a 2014 restructuring, Kazakhmys de-merged into private company Kazakhmys Corp. and a separate public company, KAZ Minerals plc.
- Kim still has a stake in KAZ Minerals and sold his majority stake in Kazakhmys Corp., which inherited most of the group's mature mining (mostly copper) assets, in 2025.
- He stepped down as chairman of KAZ Minerals in 2013.
