- Takaya Awata is president and CEO of Tokyo-listed Toridoll Holdings, Japan's largest operator of udon noodle restaurants.
- Awata opened his first yakitori grilled-chicken restaurant in 1985, after dropping out of the Kobe City University of Foreign Studies.
