• Somurai Jaruphnit draws her wealth from an 8.42% stake in the holding outfit of the Charoen Pokphand Group, one of the world's largest producers of animal feed and livestock.
• Her late father Montri Jiaravanont was the son of Chia Ek Chor, who along with his brother Choncharoen Chiaravanont, opened a shop selling seeds imported from China in 1921.
