- Sergei Studennikov is founder of the Krasnoye & Beloye (Red & White) chain of self-service liquor stores, the largest liquor retailer in Russia.
- In 2019, he merged it with the Dixy supermarket chain owned by billionaires Igor Kesaev and Sergei Katsiev to form Mercury Retail Group Limited.
- Mercury Retail, in which he and his wife have a 49% stake, is the leading alcohol retailer in Russia with 15,000 stores.
- Mercury postponed its much anticipated IPO after Putin invaded Ukraine.
