- Scot French is a founding partner of HPS Investment Partners, one of the world's biggest alternative credit managers with $149 billion in assets.
- French cofounded HPS in 2007 with Scott Kapnick and Michael Patterson, who are both also billionaires.
- HPS was sold to BlackRock in July 2025 for around $12 billion in BlackRock stock.
- French previously managed a proprietary investment fund within Citigroup, and before that worked at Goldman Sachs and Salomon Brothers.
