- Marc Samwer and his brothers Alexander and Oliver founded Berlin-based tech incubator Rocket Internet in 2007 and took it public in October 2014.
- Together, they own around 44% of Rocket. The company was valued at more than $8 billion at the time of its IPO.
- Inspired by the dot-com boom, the Samwers created a German auction site, Alando, in 1999 and sold it to eBay for $43 million after a few months.
- That was followed by the creation of mobile phone content provider Jamba!, which was sold to Verisign in 2004 for $273 million.
- Marc studied law at the University of Cologne.
