Biography
- Louis Le Duff got his start when he opened a combined restaurant-bakery in a Quebec ski resort while studying abroad for his MBA.
- In 1976, he took the concept back to France and opened the first Brioche Dorée bakery in Brittany with just $2,000.
- Groupe Le Duff now operates more than 1,000 bakery and restaurant locations, including La Madeleine French eateries chain in the U.S. and Del Arte in France.
- The company's biggest business is Bridor, which produces high-quality breads and pastries for hotels, restaurants and catering services in more than 100 countries.
- Le Duff also owns frozen food maker Gourming, and he owned the Bruegger's Bagels chain from 2011 until 2017, when he sold it to Caribou Coffee Company. 
- In the summer of 1970, when Le Duff studied at Columbia University in the City of New York, he worked night shifts at a French creperie on 3rd Street.
