Biography
- John "Coz" Colgrove is cofounder and chief visionary officer of data management and storage company Pure Storage.
- He helped launch the company in 2009 and took it public on the New York Stock Exchange in 2015.
- Colgrove, who owns 4% of Pure Storage, pushed for an outside CEO from the very beginning, because he was adamant about staying in a technical role.
- Before cofounding Pure Storage, he joined data storage company Veritas Technologies in 1989 as a founding engineer and worked there through its IPO in 1993 and Symantec's $13.5 billion acquisition of Veritas in 2005.
- Colgrove joined Palo Alto-based venture capital firm Sutter Hill Ventures in 2009 as an entrepreneur-in-residence where he met his eventual Pure Storage cofounder John Hayes.
