- In early 1990s Dmitry Mazepin co-founded a bank, insurance company and petroleum trader.
- In 1999-2002 he worked as Deputy Chairman with the state Russian Federal Property Fund.
- In 2004 he bought the first fertilizer manufacturer at the privatization auction. Then he founded Uralchem Group and acquired several fertilizer producers in Russia.
- Uralchem is one of the world's largest producers and exporters of nitrogen, potash and complex fertilizers.
- From 2022 to 2024 Uralchem made several humanitarian shipments of fertilizers to Africa.
