- Its activities range from mining and smelting to energy production, logistics and financial services (Kazakhstan's Eurasian Bank is a subsidiary).
- Israeli Machkevich and Belgian Chodiev along with Ibragimov, a native of Uzbekistan who is now a citizen of Kazakhstan, are sometimes referred to as "The Trio."
- Machkevitch is Chairman of ERG and has been instrumental in negotiating joint projects with China in metals, mining and infrastructure.
